Meet the Interns…
Ready Set Prep Early Learning Center Announces New Internship Program and Welcomes Two Emerging Student Leaders
At Ready Set Prep Early Learning Center, we are proud to announce the launch of an innovative internship experience designed to prepare the next generation of leaders through hands-on exposure in Information Technology, Education, and Business Management.
We are excited to welcome our inaugural interns, Cara Hicks and Micah Thomas, to the Ready Set Prep family.
Cara Hicks is a rising senior at Morgan State University, and Micah Thomas is a rising sophomore at Bowie State University. Both students were initially selected for separate internship tracks in IT and Education & Business Management. However, after thoughtful reevaluation, Ready Set Prep leadership made the intentional decision to combine the tracks into one comprehensive experience that integrates all three disciplines.
Why? Because we believe future leaders deserve a full-spectrum opportunity to learn how innovation, education, and business operations intersect in real-world environments.
Throughout the internship, Cara and Micah will work directly under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer while also learning from every executive within the organization. Each member of the Ready Set Prep leadership team will intentionally pour into these promising young professionals through mentorship, strategic exposure, and real-life business experiences that go far beyond the classroom.
This internship experience was specifically designed to provide what traditional education often cannot:
Real-world leadership exposure
Cross-functional business understanding
Hands-on technology implementation
Professional communication and operational strategy
Problem-solving within a growing organization
Mission-driven innovation in action
“Why an IT and Business centric internship at a daycare?”
The answer is: it’s crucial!
RSP has set the goal to have early learning centers that are no longer simply childcare facilities. Modern early education organizations need to operate as multifaceted enterprises that require strong technology infrastructure, strategic business operations, data management, digital communication, compliance systems, cybersecurity awareness, marketing, workforce management, and family engagement solutions.
The global education technology market is projected to surpass hundreds of billions of dollars over the next several years as schools and learning organizations continue integrating digital systems into everyday operations. From enrollment management and parent communication platforms to digital literacy instruction and operational analytics, technology is now essential to educational success and organizational growth.
For growing organizations like Ready Set Prep, enterprise-level thinking is critical. As childcare and education organizations expand, they increasingly require:
IT systems and digital infrastructure
Data-driven decision making
Business process management
Workforce development strategies
Branding and communications support
Digital literacy programming
Financial and operational scalability
By exposing interns to these areas early, we are preparing them not only for jobs, but for leadership in evolving industries where education, technology, and business are deeply connected.
At Ready Set Prep, we believe innovation should start early, not just for the children we serve, but also for the young adults preparing to shape the future.
This program reflects our broader mission of community investment, leadership development, and creating opportunities that transform lives across generations.
At RSP, our investment in the future goes beyond the early-aged children we serve.
We believe in investing in students, their families, the community, and future professionals through intentional opportunities like this internship program. Through mentorship, innovation, and purpose-driven leadership, we are committed to building strong leaders for tomorrow.
